On Nov. 23, Steve Harvey and his wife Marjorie will give away more than 6,000 turkeys to needy families across the country, as well as host “Steve Harvey’s Big Turkey Give Day” in Chicago with two daytime events in the cities of Markham and Chicago.
As part of the nationwide giveaway, the Harveys will team up with Steve Harvey Morning Show affiliate stations in 53 markets to distribute thousands of turkeys, with live on-air gives taking place in 10 of those markets.
During the Big Turkey Give Day, the Harveys – in conjunction with V103/WVAZ-FM in Chicago – the couple will personally give away 1,000 turkeys and 1,000 ropes of turkey sausage courtesy of Hillshire Farm to Chicago-area residents.

That's quite generous of them.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of something that happened years ago in (I believe) Atlanta when a radio station began tossing live turkeys out of a helicopter over a shopping mall. What was supposed to be a promotional give-away became tragic because they didn't realize that the birds wings had been clipped and they couldn't fly. Instead the turkeys plummed to the paking lot, smashing cars and splattering blood and feathers everywhere.
The old tv show, "WKRP" did a parody of it once.
